About digit at up

DIGIT at UP aims to create a hub for multi-disciplinary Digital Humanities (DH) research projects by launching a digital platform and research archive for interactive and rich media scholarship. We approach digital scholarship from a 'critical digital humanities' perspective and argue that human-technology interaction always contributes to our understanding of ourselves and the broader society and culture. Our project trajectory focuses on the intersection between digital technology and humanity, focusing not only on how DH practices adds to scholarship, but also on intensifying humanistic scholarly engagement.

Within the University of Pretoria, DIGIT at UP wants to place DH on the research and teaching agenda of the Faculty of Humanities, as well as the larger scholarly and research community of the University of Pretoria. The first aim is to establish a platform to initiate interest and debate and second to initiate and assist with projects wherein DH methodologies are incorporated for both teaching and research purposes.
